Management buyout for Polypipe Sanitary Systems
(29/02/2008)
Polypipe Sanitary Systems has been the subject of a successful management buyout from its previous owners, the Polypipe Group. The deal, which became effective on 30th January 2008, saw Polypipe Sanitary Systems come under the control of members of its Executive Management Team headed by Brian Watson, who moves from his previous role as managing director to become Chief Executive Officer of the new business.
The company will continue under the Polypipe Sanitary Systems name for a limited period, before phasing in a new identity as CME Sanitary Systems - a name which reflects the three principle brands of the business, Celmac, Macdee and Ecoplay.
The purchase includes the existing operations at Dukinfield in Manchester, Warmsworth in Yorkshire, and Pan Yu in China. It also incorporates the three Polypipe Sanitary Systems brands of Celmac toilet seats, Macdee flushing systems and Ecoplay micro greywater management systems.
“This is an excellent time for us to take control of the business,” says Brian Watson. “While we want our customers to be completely assured that everything will continue as normal from their point of view, this move represents a tremendous opportunity for us to move the business onto the next level.
“Under Polypipe’s ownership the business has developed its brands and invested in new products and new markets. The management team is totally committed to continuing that pattern of growth and expansion; thereby building on its good performance in 2007.
“As an independent business we can now increase our effort to develop our product ranges of toilet seats, flushing systems, wastes, frames and grey water management systems. We believe that this will allow us to strengthen our market-leading position both here in the UK and overseas.”
