Roman reports record exports sales
(07/02/2008)
Roman has reported that its exports grew by a record amount last year. Overseas sales increased by more than 160 per cent, with export sales in December being the stronger than any other division in the company.
Roman’s export drive is led by Export Manager, Gillian Richardson who said: “We have had our best year yet and we are now selling Roman shower products in 16 different countries throughout the world. The highlights of our overseas sales last year were winning substantial business in Portugal, Poland, Qatar & Nigeria.
“Canada continues to be our largest customer closely followed by Austria. We are particularly pleased that we are selling to new customers in Greece, Bulgaria, Spain, Cyprus and the United Arab Emirates. Large-scale construction projects for apartments & hotels in the Middle East are now offering us some huge volume opportunities. Our design and production flexibility is crucial to winning such prestigious projects.
“This good export news does a lot to secure the jobs of over 200 employees at our County Durham headquarters and our distribution centre at Daventry, Northamptonshire.”
Roman points out that the shower market is particularly competitive, not only in the UK, but also in foreign markets. The Roman Export team emphasises the need for foreign languages – operating with French, German, Spanish, Italian and Russian as the primary tongues.
Gillian Richardson continued: “One of the main reasons for our success is the company’s ability to deliver promptly to our customers overseas. From the date that the order is received, we can make the product within a week and then despatch it quickly. Having done so well in 2007, Roman’s ambition is to do even better this year.”
