Water softener as a value added option results in best year ever for Tapworks
(21/01/2008)
Tapworks has reported 2007 as its best year ever for sales of water softener products.
Managing Director Mike Pickavance says it’s been a sparkling year for the company: “We’ve seen a significant increase in sales on the back of the ‘Magic’ marketing campaign we’ve rolled out during the year, visiting merchant branches across the country, inviting installers to come and meet us face to face, and see for themselves the quality of the products, how easy they are to install and the fantastic profit opportunity that fitting a water softener provides to them.
“The message that you should at the very least give a customer the chance of installing a water softener on your quotes as a ‘value added option’ when you quote to install a new kitchen or bathroom, has begun to get home and this is also reflected in the increase in membership of Team Tapworks, our installer group, which has swelled in numbers significantly on the back of the help we have given them, to not only understand how a water softener can be a useful ally to them in their day to day activities, but also how to sell them. Our guide to water softeners for installers – “Soft sell. Hard cash.” - has been very popular and we continue to get plenty of requests for copies through our web site.
“On the wider front, there’s no doubt that as we become more affluent as a society, water softeners, which perhaps even three or four years ago were seen as something of a luxury item, are increasingly being seen as a necessity and even by some as just another appliance that they need in their kitchen. This is excellent news for the sector as a whole and clearly for Tapworks as a company.”
During 2007 Tapworks has become officially the first water softener company to achieve official carbon neutral status for every aspect of its operation from manufacture to distribution. The company called in an accredited EU Emissions Trading Scheme Verifier to assess every aspect of the work it undertakes with a view to confirming what it had been working towards over the last twelve months – that it was categorically, performing in a carbon neutral manner.
This has been very well accepted by merchant groups and by installers alike: “It’s been a very rewarding year at Tapworks and I’m grateful for the efforts of all the team we have working for us, who have shown huge enthusiasm and no little expertise as we have driven this business forward in recent years. The results we have achieved in 2007 have been the icing on the Tapworks cake so far,” says Mike Pickavance.
