Four Pillars Hotel and conference centre HVAC management system relies on Honeywell technology
(23/01/2008)
The new Cotswold Water Park Four Pillars Hotel in Gloucestershire HVAC system uses Honeywell controllers, valves, sensors and a PC-based user interface. It ensures a comfortable environment for guests and conference delegates, whatever the season. The hotel has a range of light and airy conference, banqueting and meeting rooms, a gymnasium, lakeside restaurant, 220 guest bedrooms and ten separate two-bedroom suites.
A PC-based Honeywell SymmetrE™ building management system interface provides easy and clear operator access to all HVAC, water, extractor and heat recovery plant, for day-to-day monitoring and control. It allows hotel staff to set the environment in each meeting room, appropriately for the event. Energy is saved by turning off heating or cooling to unused rooms.
Staff can view all data points on the system through the SymmetrE terminal. It also provides data history on all points. Archived data can be retrieved and analysed in trends, Excel spreadsheets and other industry-standard reporting tools.
HVAC plant is controlled by five Honeywell Excel Controllers, located in separate plant rooms across the complex. The entire system uses a LonWorks open network, so can be upgraded and expanded at any time in the future.
All banqueting and conference rooms have VAV (Variable air volume) fresh air and extract air systems to provide fresh air ventilation and cooling. Each VAV system is served electrically from a starter and control panel in its associated plant room. Supply and extract air flow rates are varied by controlling fan speeds using Honeywell inverter drives located adjacent to the air handling units.
The hotel and conference centre’s HVAC management system was supplied and installed by building control specialists P A Collacott & Co. P A Collacott & Co is a Partner company to CentraLine by Honeywell. It specialises in the design, installation and commissioning of building management systems using the latest Honeywell Excel 5000 and CentraLine technologies. P A Collacott technicians attend regular intensive training on both BMS platforms at Honeywell Training Centres.
