Since its launch, Loctite 55 Sealing Cord has been a massive hit with plumbers, maintenance engineers, facilities managers and the like. Designed to replace traditional pipe sealing methods such as PTFE tape, pastes and solvent drying compounds, using Loctite 55 is extremely easy.

The fibres are wound around the male threads of the joint and then cut using the in-built edge. The cord allows backing-off if the fittings don't immediately align.

Now Henkel, maker of the Loctite brand products, has introduced a website that carries a whole host of useful information about the product. Of special interest is a video demonstration that shows the cord being used. And there are eye-opening independent comparisons between Loctite 55 and other sealing methods.
