A safe and tested alternative to hot soldering
(28/10/2007)
For decades, plumbers and builders have relied upon hot soldering to join pipes together. It's a process with many disadvantages including scorched skirting boards, burnt fingers, and the need for a heat permit with an obligatory two-hour stay afterwards. There is also the thorny subject of energy conservation and the growing need for the construction sector to embrace energy conserving strategies and products.
Just-For-Copper is a product that provides a safe and tested alternative to hot soldering. WRAS approved, it permanently joins rigid copper pipes and fittings in minutes without the need for hot soldering. It saves energy and time and it is rated at 500 PSI on rigid copper pipes of 25 mm. It is a chemical weld that comes in a trade size bottle. It will be demonstrated at Interbuild, October 2007 Stand C140 Hall 4.
Says Mike Schlup, Managing Director of Kalimex Ltd, the sole UK importers of Just-for-Copper, "This product has been a bestseller in America for many years. The first thing that we did when we brought it into the UK was to certify it with the Water Regulatory Advisory Service (WRAS) to BS6920. It has also undergone a series of independent safety and performance tests. Just-For-Copper is now being distributed UK wide through builders and plumbers merchants.”
Schlup concluded: "At Interbuild we will be running live demonstrations and encouraging both visitors and the members of the press to put Just-For-Copper to the test themselves. It's my firm belief that within the next three years this product will be in every single builder and plumber's tool kit. It's not just a product for now, it's a product for the future."
