A new assessment criteria, CPA1 combustion performance assessment, has been ratified by the Approved Certification Scheme (ACS) committee. The CPA1 combustion performance assessment is designed for gas engineers who use combustion analysis as part of the installation, commissioning, servicing and maintenance of a gas appliance, in accordance with manufacturer’s instruction and as detailed in standard BS7967.

Logic Certification is currently the only accredited Certification Body (CB) approved by UKAS to offer this additional unit.

The first installer to complete this course is Michael Webb, a Heateam engineer (a service division of BAXI). He completed the training on September 21 at SGAS Ltd (Specialist Gas Assessment Services), in Blackpool.

Lee Robinson, customer service director for the BAXI Group, commented: “It is vital that BAXI ensures gas safety, energy efficiency and preventative maintenance for householders, so it is very important that our engineers keep abreast of the latest developments in the industry. We are pleased to be at the forefront of this new training initiative.”

This new addition to the ACS assessment has been lead by CORGI and will become applicable as soon as an infrastructure is in place to deliver it. With Logic Certification being the first CB recognised to certify this course, all Logic approved ACS centres will be at the front of the supply chain when CPA1 becomes mandatory.
