Sentinel has reformulated its chemical system cleanser
(02/08/2007)
An untreated domestic heating system can see a startling reduction of up to 15% in its level of heat transfer capability. Sentinel has reformulated its current X800 Ferroquest heavy duty, ‘one visit’ chemical system cleanser, making it even better and even greener.
This new product has been designed to restore and maintain energy efficiency and system effectiveness levels of domestic heating systems as shown by the independent research carried out by GASTEC.
The new X800 Jetflo formulation is suitable for use with all commonly encountered metals and alloys, including aluminium. All of the product components are non-toxic, non-hazardous and wholly biodegradable making the product and its dilutions completely environmentally friendly.
The product has been especially designed for use in conjunction with jet flushing equipment such as Sentinel’s Jetflush 4, as well as for manual flushing.
The new X800 Jetflo bottle in the merchants is almost identical to its predecessor, apart from now sporting a purple cap and the label has now lost the name ‘Ferroquest’. Installers will notice that the new formulation is a creamy brown colour rather than the clear brown liquid of the previous formulation.
A single bottle of X800 Jetflo is sufficient to treat a typical domestic system of approximately 8-10 radiator panels. For larger or badly fouled systems, two bottles should be used. Although effective when used in conventional gravity/circulation cleaning cycles, the product’s full benefits are achieved when used in conjunction with a powerflushing machine such as Sentinel’s Jetflush 4. After cleaning, a system should be drained and flushed until the water runs clear. On refilling the system, it should be treated with Sentinel X100 inhibitor to keep the system operating at optimum efficiency levels.
European Technical Manager, Dr Paul Day says the new X800 Jetflo is even better than before: “X800 Jetflo is a powerful chemical cleanser designed to remove iron oxide and calcium based deposits from heat exchangers, radiators and pipework. We have been able to change the formulation to significantly improve its environmentally friendly characteristics, without reducing its effectiveness. It is still the most effective cleanser on the domestic heating marketplace.”
