Wood burners are economical and environmentally friendly
(01/08/2007)
As oil prices continue to increase and other power sources being questioned in terms of damage to the environment, wood burners provide both a practical and stylish solution. The burning of wood as a natural source for both cooking and heat is one of the oldest known to mankind. Today, it not only remains one of the most environmentally friendly ways of heating individual rooms or whole houses, but also is also very economical.
Typically using timber to heat and cook with provides a 30% saving on the gas or oil equivalents, and being carbon neutral it helps protects the environment. They also are 3 to 4 times more energy efficient than traditional open fires.
Wood burners will supply 75% of the heat generated from your fuel outwards into your room, with only 25% disappearing up the chimney. Open fires on the other hand, are likely to only generate only 15 -20% of outward heat, so in effect you will need to put 4 logs onto an open fire to gain the same result as 1 log into a wood burner.
Jotul have recently joined forces with SCAN in order to offer a vast choice in its product portfolio to suit every taste and style.
Nick Sloane, Marketing Director at Jotul UK comments “Fuel and energy efficiency is now top of the list for most homeowners, especially with the new home buyers pack now being introduced more customers are turning to wood burners as the attractive and practical alternative.”
