Plumber buys Brighton Drain Doctor franchise
(14/06/2007)
Plumber Bob Hammond was so impressed with the service provided by the Drain Doctor Plumbing business which he worked for that he has now bought his own. Along with wife Bev and son Bobby he is taking on the Drain Doctor franchise for Brighton and the surrounding area. He aims to build the business by providing superior levels of customer service.
Bob - a plumber by training - spent six years working for a Drain Doctor franchisee in London. When family circumstances forced a move to the south coast he set up his own company to provide Drain Doctor-style services.
Now, two years later, the Brighton Drain Doctor franchise has become available and Bob plans to close his existing business and throw all his energy into developing Drain Doctor.
He is moving the existing Drain Doctor business to new offices in Littlehampton from where he and Bobby - along with another technician - will provide a true 24-hour emergency plumbing service using two fully-equipped vans. Over the next few years he plans to build up the business to put a fleet of six vans on the road.
He said: "When I was working with Drain Doctor in London I saw the potential of the Drain Doctor system. Drain Doctor customers are given fixed-price, no obligation quotes; all work is guaranteed; and we are fully trained in latest techniques, such as closed circuit camera surveys and no-dig drain repairs. There are no call-out charges and the job costs the same whatever time of day or night the customer needs to call us."
The existing owners of the Brighton Drain Doctor franchise in London are moving back to their native London - where they have purchased another Drain Doctor franchise.
Bob said: "The fact that the existing franchise owners are staying with Drain Doctor speaks volumes about the potential for this business."
As the business develops, he hopes to offer an even more rapid response emergency plumbing service with a 'plumber on a motor bike' response team - a move which would allow him to combine his job with a life-long love of motor bikes and scuba diving.
