Mercedes Vito vans selected for their reliability
(17/06/2007)
Water treatment specialist Managed Water Services has bought two Mercedes Vito 111CDI Compact vans from the Bradford outlet of Northside Truck and Van.
The firm undertakes water hygiene operations for the likes of oil giant Shell, as well as shopping centres and nursing homes. Tasks include cleaning tanks, monitoring temperatures and checking plumbing on large-scale water systems. The firm is using its new Vitos to carry equipment such as pipes, fittings, chemicals, tools and ladders to sites.
Technical Director Ben Szyczak reckons the three-pointed star has the edge over competitors because of its combination of brand prestige and outstanding reliability: “We chose Mercedes because our vans have to cover the whole of the UK, and will each rack up at least 30,000 miles a year,” he explains. “So we cannot afford to have them off the road. Mercedes-Benz is renowned for its quality, reliability and durability. We have tried vans by other manufacturers in the past but none of them came up to scratch. The Vito is also a very smart-looking vehicle, which is important given that we are carrying out sub-contracting work for major companies.”
Comfortable and car-like to drive, the Vito is the ‘baby’ of the Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle range. It was the International Van of the Year for 2005 and features safety equipment, including the ESP® anti-skid program and anti-lock braking, as standard.
When purchased new from an authorised dealer, the Vito now has the added benefit of a three-year unlimited mileage warranty.
