Under the Government’s Decent Homes Scheme, thousands of properties are being improved. Residents across South London are being treated to a warmer, more energy-efficient home by Bromley-based heating and plumbing firm OCO Ltd and Sentinel products.

Part of the scheme involves ensuring the homes are warm and this is where OCO steps in as its 40-strong team of installers is responsible for installing new heating systems and servicing existing ones.

Every day, installers visit up to 30 homes, using Sentinel’s range of products to remove and prevent sludge build up from existing heating systems, making them more efficient and cheaper to run, as well as helping to protect the environment by reducing fuel consumption.

Heating systems in up to eight of these properties a day are being cleaned with Sentinel’s X800 Jetflo – a powerful chemical cleanser designed to remove iron oxide and calcium based deposits from heat exchangers, radiators and pipework – before being treated with Sentinel X100 inhibitor – which is also used in all new installations.

Dave Willbourne, manager at OCO said: “We work with local authorities, including Lewisham, Lambeth, Southwark, Islington and Hackney as well as housing associations such as Peabody Housing Trust – one of London’s largest and oldest housing associations – and we’ve built up a reputation among them for doing a good job. To achieve this, we have to use the best products available and for us, this is Sentinel’s range.

He added: “We have used competitors’ products before but found that while some were too aggressive, others were too weak to do the job properly. We can do our job with confidence using X800 Jetflo because, from experience, we know that it easily and completely removes sludge and the X100 inhibitor considerably slows down its return.”
