Vortice has announced the HRU ECO 3 RF Heat Recovery System. The HRU ECO 3 RF exceeds the Building Regulations Part L (conservation of energy in homes, offices and other buildings) and is equipped with quiet, energy saving DC motors that, married with a clever construction of heat exchanger, results in an efficiency of 95%.

The unit can be easily installed into the loft space and is controlled by state-of-the-art 3 speed wireless controllers. The unit considers health, comfort and noise issues within its design; a high supply air temperature ensures no draught into the dwelling and guarantees a constant supply of fresh air.

Background ventilators are not required with the HRU ECO 3 RF system, an ideal solution where outside environments are noisy.

The main feature of the system is the synthetic counter-flow heat exchanger. This exchanger is made up of many triangular canals in a lattice type construction, creating an enormous surface area to transfer heat.

This advanced system has many key features including an integrated 100% fully automatic ‘summer’ bypass valve and frost protection device. The bypass valve is designed to activate when the exchange of heat is no longer necessary. The frost protection is a gradual device that combines the fresh incoming air with warmer air to prevent the unit from freezing.

The 2006 Edition of the UK Building Regulations Approved Document F1: Means of Ventilation defines 4 systems of ventilation to dwellings. The new HRU ECO 3 RF fully complies with System 4 - Continuous mechanical extract with heat recovery (MVHR).
