Plumbers and heating engineers are renowned for their scepticism on the subject of the effectiveness of electronic water conditioners. So, when Fast Systems issued a challenge to find ten plumbers to test its newly launched ScaleGuard Professional electronic scale reducer, it knew the product had to be really successful to convince them.

The ScaleGuard uses patented technology to quickly and effectively dissolve existing limescale and prevent it recurring, returning water systems and water-fed appliances to their former efficiency. ScaleGuard works by sending out a computerised modulated signal, which changes the physical properties of the scale forming calcium molecules.

This action stops any further build-up of scale by preventing the molecules from adhering to themselves or any other surface. As the solubility of the water is also increased existing scale is dissolved back into the water and gradually removed. ScaleGuard works on all types of property and pipework up to 28mm in diameter and maintenance free.

Ten plumbers from hard water areas in Hertfordshire, London, Wiltshire, Essex and Cambridgeshire tested the product over a six-month period and monitored the outcome. Now with the results and data collected, Fast Systems has issued the results.

The tests were a success with positive comments received from all ten plumbers. Those who had previously thought that the only means of treating hard water was to install a water softener have now changed their minds about electronic scale reducers.

“After 30 years in the trade and a born cynic I thought the only answer to hard water was a water softener”, says Phillip Maslen, Pipewright Heating and Plumbing, Wilts “However my ScaleGuard trial has shown me an easy to fit, cheap and maintenance free unit that really works”.

“Despite initially being sceptical about the effectiveness of electronic scale reducers, I have noticed a tangible difference in the water quality”, said I. Puddick of Leakbusters in London. “You have a winning product”.

ScaleGuard is compact yet is packed with the latest technology including an internal six-volt transformer. It needs no plumbing, chemicals or maintenance and can be quickly and easily installed. The device uses just 4 watts of electricity and costs around £3 a year to run.

Costing £99+VAT, ScaleGuard is also available with special first time purchaser and trade discounts. The device complies with IEC335, is manufactured in the UK to conform to EEC and comes with a 10-year guarantee.
