LyonsDen Fitness Centre selects Rinnai continuous flow water heaters
(23/12/2006)
LyonsDen Fitness Centre has selected Rinnai UK’s Infinity heavy duty, mains fed continuous flow water heaters to fulfil the hot water demands of its purpose built, privately owned 13,600ft² club in Bagillt, Flintshire. Rinnai UK proved that Infinity could outrun its competitors in public safety, energy efficiency and installation space savings.
“I was looking for an electronically controlled system without hot water storage that provided a single water feed at a preset temperature without mixer valves, to avoid the possibility of scalding, yet would provide a continuous and instant supply of hot water, even at peak times,” explained Neil Lyons, designer, owner and operator of LyonsDen. “In the early days of a new club like this, it is difficult to predict usage levels but, as the Infinity fires on demand, I can be sure that no energy is wasted on stored hot water.”
Three Rinnai Infinity HD50i heaters have been installed in series on a secondary return system in a manifold configuration with a fanned balanced flue extending vertically through the roof. Instantaneous hot water is supplied to nine showers, 12 hand basins and the kitchen area. As demand increases, the boilers fire up sequentially to cope.
The compact Infinity HD range is suited for use in health and fitness centre applications where a consistent, endless supply of hot water is required. Their space-saving design (600mm high, 350mm wide, 224mm deep) and high energy efficiency mean the units generate the amount of water needed at the temperature required without the need for bulky storage, saving profit-making space.
Neil Lyons commented: “I was impressed with Rinnai’s professional efficiency. The installation was extremely straightforward and went according to plan. I was particularly pleased that minimal space was required to site the heaters, which have been providing high performance operation since the LyonsDen opened for business. I have saved on mixers and pipework, and know I can easily add to the system if required. Other than under test, I don’t think boiler three has needed to kick in yet, and they haven’t skipped a beat.”
