Geberit tackles plumbing noise control with launch of Silent-DB20

At this year’s M&E Show Geberit is launching its new Silent-db20 drainage system. High levels of noise have been found to amongst other things increase stress levels, reduce sleep quality and degrade speech intelligibility. Plumbing associated noise can be a major contribution to ambient levels.

Enhancing the company’s acoustic plumbing solution Geberit will be demonstrating at the show how the Silent-db20, and other acoustic elements across its total water supply, control and drainage product range, guarantee very low noise emission levels for all types of residential and commercial buildings.

Good acoustic control is especially important within hospitals, educational buildings, hotels, offices and multiple dwellings. Specifically designed to offer increased levels of sound proofing in such environments the Geberit Silent-db20 incorporates a patented mineral enhanced material and insulated pipe brackets for solid borne sound insulation and uniquely shaped sound dampening ribs for air borne sound insulation.

The Silent-db20 pipes and fittings come in diameters from 56 to 160mm and are compatible with the existing Geberit HDPE drainage system, and can therefore be combined without any restrictions.

Geberit offers an integrated approach to noise control in plumbing and drainage systems. Elements have been designed to tackle noise at every potential point of transfer, these include WC acoustic isolators, acoustic covers for water supply tap connectors, acoustically insulated pipe brackets and ISOL acoustic insulation wrap.

The building industry in Germany, Austria and Switzerland has had strict acoustic standards for many years. Swiss limits are 30dB(A) for apartments, 27dB(A) for offices and only 24dB(A) for schools and hospitals. The company has been involved in Swiss sanitary and drainage acoustics since 1969, ensuring that Geberit systems and equipment meet and exceed the requirements of
Part E of the UK Building Regulations.
