Polypipe Ventilation secure their largest ever single project

Polypipe Ventilation have announced that they have received their largest ever single project, for Domus Supertube ducting and Domus FireBrake to be installed at the Media City development in Salford Quays, Manchester.

Media City has been designed to provide a purpose-built home for creative and digital businesses. The main waterfront building will be occupied by the BBC whilst the remaining buildings will incorporate a mixture of office and retail space, plus over 360 residential apartments across two towers.

Polypipe Ventilation products have been specified and installed by M&E Contractor Ameon, and forms an integral part of the 'whole house ventilation system', providing ventilation to and from the bathroom and kitchen in each apartment.

Graham Murphy, Purchase Director at Ameon, chose the Domus Firebrake and Supertube from Polypipe Ventilation because of its "superior construction and manufacture at reasonable costs". This is the first time the contractor has used Polypipe Ventilation products and to make that decision for such a large, prestigious installation is a testament to the quality of the product and support provided.

The Domus Supertube 125 is a highly engineered flat channel ducting system whose low profile design enables concealment when installed along the top of wall units or when fitted in ceiling voids, cavity walls and other confined spaces. It is being used with Domus FireBrake, a unique and technically advanced intumescent product to prevent the spread of fire through ventilation ducting systems. FireBrake ensures Building Regulations are met by reinstating the fire-stopping of a compartment wall when a hole is cut in it for the ducting.
