New Chemical Treatment Range from The Rustbuster
(24/06/2009)
The Rustbuster has launched a new dosing vessel, water treatment chemicals and magnetic filters.
The Rustbuster Magnetic Heating Filter utilises rare earth magnets. It will not block when full, is very quick, easy and simple to fit. It can be isolated to clean, and allows earth continuity being made of metals.
It only costs £50 during its first months special promotion.
Dosing is a procedure whereby a chemical solution is added to the water in the central heating system, to protect it from corrosion, sludge and limescale. It is recommended, and is good practise to drain and dose a domestic heating system every 2 to 3 years to maintain protection from the harmful and very expensive effects of electrolytic corrosion.
The Rustbuster Dosing Vessel is a new plumbing tool specifically designed to provide a quicker and easier way to dose a partially drained central heating system, utilising the cheaper option of using a liquid.
Using The Rustbuster Dosing Vessel also allows for a cleaner application, as spillage is drastically reduced, if not banished altogether. It is compact, portable and will hold a maximum volume of 1.5 litres and withstand a pressure in excess of 3 bar. The results from our research and development showed that it was not always possible to dose into a radiator eg. old radiators which don't have the required ½bsp tapping.
Therefore to produce a simple funnel type product was simply not an option. Something more was needed - The Rustbuster.
When a central heating system has been drained to be worked on, chemicals need to be added to the central heating system to help prevent corrosion, sludge and scale build up. This will prolong the life expectancy of the boiler, radiators and pump etc.
Dosing a system is also a requirement under manufacturers' warranties and Part L of the Building Regulations (BS7593). The methods currently available to dose central heating systems (i.e. cartridges, aerosols, pressure vessels and funnels) are either expensive, time consuming, awkward or a combination of all three.
There are different ways The Rustbuster Dosing Vessel can be used:
Via the Boiler Filling Loop
Disconnect the filling loop on the boiler at the cold water supply and connect it to the dosing vessel. Then connect the vessel's hose back to the cold water supply. The valve on the cold water supply (and non return valve if fitted) can now be opened, flushing the rust inhibitor/chemical solution inside the vessel and quickly into the central heating system - job done in a matter of seconds!
Via a Radiator
Remove both caps from the top of a radiator and connect the dosing vessel to one of the ports with the mini filling loop hose and fitting provided. Rotate the vessel through 180 degrees, to allow the rust inhibitor/chemical solution to quickly flow into the radiator - job done in a matter of seconds!
Via a Towel Warmer
Remove both caps from the top of a radiator and connect the dosing vessel to one of the ports with the mini filling loop hose and fitting provided. Rotate the vessel through 180 degrees, to allow the rust inhibitor/chemical solution to quickly flow into the radiator - job done in a matter of seconds!
