Curzon joins Carbon Monoxide Consumer Awareness Alliance to raise awareness of the dangers of Carbon Monoxide
(01/07/2009)
Curzon, the specialist supplier of genuine heating spares, has become the first merchant to join the Carbon Monoxide Consumer Awareness Alliance (COCAA) in a bid to ensure that the dangers of carbon monoxide are taken seriously throughout the trade.
Curzon has partnered with the COCAA in order to extend the reach of the awareness campaign and ensure that its customer base is aligned with the aims and objectives of the alliance.
As Debbie-Sue Price, Marketing Manager at Curzon, comments: “Carbon monoxide represents a real danger and is an area that must be taken seriously if we are to effectively communicate the risks associated with it. The COCAA is doing a fantastic job of raising awareness amongst a diverse audience and we hope to support the work they are doing by offering yet another channel for communicating its key messages. Curzon is in a unique position in terms of industry knowledge and its ability to advise and counsel its customers, and we believe that this is a natural partnership that will generate positive change throughout the industry.”
Nigel Dumbrell, Chair of COCAA, adds: “Raising awareness of the dangers associated with Carbon Monoxide remains our priority and having as many supporters as possible is a hugely positive thing. We welcome this new partnership and believe that the combined power of the COCAA and a well-established organisation such as Curzon is a huge step forward that will provide a wider platform on which to communicate our objectives.”
Set up in 2007 as a direct response to the All Party Parliamentary Gas Safety Group, COCAA has generated significant awareness throughout the UK, with the launch of a high profile campaign entitled ‘Carbon Monoxide – Be Alarmed’ in 2008. Its members include representatives from energy suppliers through to carbon monoxide alarm manufacturers, trade associations, charities and victim support groups. In the UK alone around 30 people have died and a further 177 have suffered injuries from carbon monoxide related incidents over the last 12 months. COCAA aims to raise the profile of carbon monoxide, by focusing on the dangers as well as the simple steps for safety and prevention, the symptoms and where to seek help and advice.
