Dimplex air source heat pumps and Solar Keymarked solar thermal water heating systems eligible for grant assistance

The Low Carbon Building Programme Phase 2 has been extended until April 2011. Following the latest budget announcement, an additional £45 million has been allocated to the LCBP, £35 million of which has been directed to Phase 2, the public sector stream. This sees the scheme extend from July 2009 until April 2011 to continue to support renewable technologies’ development until the introduction of the Feed-in Tariffs and the Renewable Heat Incentive.

Dimplex can now help even more schools, housing associations and other not-for-profit organisations to access low carbon heat. What’s more, the extended scheme now covers all Dimplex products registered on the Microgeneration Certification Scheme or carrying the Solar Keymark, giving applicants greater choice over the technology that’s best for their project.

Under LCBP2 so far, Dimplex has been one of three framework suppliers of ground source heat pumps. The scheme’s extension means that selected Dimplex air source heat pumps as well as its Solar Keymarked solar thermal water heating systems will shortly be eligible for grant assistance.

In addition, the extension of the scheme now sees the upper limit for grants of heat technologies increased from 45kW to 300kW. This means that large scale installations in schools, colleges, libraries, sports centres and other large buildings can now access grant funding for a greater proportion of their total costs, up to a limit of £200,000.

With over 200 projects approved to date for ground source heat pump funding under LCBP2, which will continue to award grants of up to 50% of capital and installation costs, nearly half have specified Dimplex equipment.
