Sport TV presenter opts for Dimplex fires
(13/06/2008)
When sportswoman and TV presenter Sharron Davies wanted to add a classic twist to a new orangery to her Cotswold home, she came straight to Dimplex. Sharron, who shot to fame as a UK Olympic medallist thanks to her swimming talents, now juggles her media and sports career with a busy family life, so convenience as well as style were top priorities in choosing furnishings and décor which is why two fires from the Dimplex collection met the criteria.
A Dimplex Obsidian Optiflame fire is at one end of the elegant timber and glass Orangery and a Living Art fire is at the other end, adjacent to the dining area, blending and contrasting with the glass and textured furnishings to provide living pieces of ‘wall art’.
“We wanted the decorative effect of a fire for the new orangery but it had to be exactly right. We went searching and found that Dimplex models not only fit the bill for looks, safety and convenience but are real talking points as well, So we got two!” explains Sharron.
“The Living Art fire in particular is a real talking point when we entertain as we like to change the different picture scenes to set different moods and our youngest son really loves the water images!” adds Sharron.
Twice voted British Press sportswoman of the year and with an MBE for services to sport, Sharron has a busy schedule running her various business interests and with a young family, safety and convenience were also key factors in choosing the Dimplex fires.
“We’re here, there and everywhere and so being able to light the flame effects and the various pictures on the Living Art fire with a remote control makes life so much easier. Also we didn’t have to think about flueing, which could have been an issue for planning permission as Cotswold District Council quite rightly exercises very tight control to maintain the area’s natural charm and integrity,” she explains.
