EAL launches NVQs and VRQs for the domestic plumbing sector

EAL (EMTA Awards Ltd) has launched a new suite of NVQs and VRQs for the domestic plumbing sector, to provide the knowledge, skills and competence to work effectively in industry.

Available for delivery from September 2009 in colleges and training providers across the UK, the qualifications focus on a wide range of skills, including the planning, installation and maintenance of plumbing systems and components. Based on national occupational standards, the qualifications are suitable for apprentices and new entrants to the industry.

The NVQs cover both Level 2 and Level 3, with the Level 3 qualification featuring flexible pathways concentrating on oil and gas systems. The gas option gives candidates a route to becoming certificated through the Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS) to work safely in the gas industry.

The Level 2 and Level 3 VRQs provide the underpinning knowledge to support the NVQs. EAL’s plumbing qualifications are recognised as part of SummitSkills’ Apprenticeship and Advanced Apprenticeship frameworks for the trade, and will be available for apprenticeship funding.
