BMA reinstates its commitment to training through the Bathroom Academy

At the BMA's Eighth Annual General Meeting, Alan Brown, Director Twyford Bathrooms was re-elected as President for a second year of office with Steve Lee, Bristan Group and David Osborne, Roman Limited elected 1st and 2nd Vice Presidents respectively.
Alan Brown stated in the Presidents Annual report that the BMA is developing in a vibrant and proactive way and thrives on being the lead organisation for the bathroom Industry, representing the interests of members within Government and trade body circles.
Brown spoke about the changing market influences, from the economic, high energy and raw material costs to the environmental and sustainability challenges. He highlighted how the BMA was leading the Industry, equipping its membership with the right tools to address today’s challenges and thus ensuring the BMA continues to be recognised as the ‘voice of the Industry’.
Brown reinstated BMA’s commitment to training within the Industry through the thriving activities of the Bathroom Academy which is guiding over 400 students through the certification programme, supported by 8 colleges 6 corporate sponsors and 14 manufacturers. The Bathroom Academy has awarded over 310 merit certificates and 16 students have gained the much sort after Certificate in Bathroom Studies.
Michael Ankers from the Construction Products Association spoke to a packed hall outlining activity within the construction market, the downturn in new build and what expectations the Industry can hope to see in the future.
David Osborne, Chairman of the BMA’s Centre of Excellence presented the marketing and training plans for the forthcoming 12 months emphasising the key focus areas of designing for life, water efficiency and training and the exciting initiatives that the BMA will be introducing.
