Loctite 55 sealing cord granted CORGI Certification approval
(10/10/2008)
Henkel’s Loctite 55 sealing cord has been granted CORGI Certification approval by the gas industry watchdog. In fact, this is the first threadsealing product to achieve this approval status.
Loctite 55 is used for securing joints in all kinds of pipework, and replaces traditional methods such as PTFE tape, pastes and solvent drying compounds. The thin and strong fibres are wound around the male threads of the joint and then cut using the in-built edge of the cord’s container. If the fittings don't immediately align, the cord allows easy backing-off, without the risk of leakage.
‘Naturally, we are delighted with this approval by CORGI Certification,’ states Paul Marshall, Marketing Director at Henkel. ‘Users throughout industry can have the confidence they are using a tried and tested product when they see the CORGI Approved logo appearing on our packaging.’
The sealing cord, which is available in two lengths 50 metres and 150 metres, is temperature resistant to +130°C. It is suitable for cast iron, steel, brass, copper, chrome, nickel-plated and galvanised surfaces, stainless steel and plastic. Alongside the CORGI approval, it carries EN751-2 Class ARp for the gas industry, and WRC approval for use with potable water to 85C.
