AGA Much Wenlock cast-iron solid fuel stove warms Leicestershire 4-Star B&B
(17/03/2008)
The owners of a 4-Star B&B in the heart of rural Leicestershire have installed a Much Wenlock cast-iron solid fuel stove from AGA. Glena and Andrew Rowlands, Bryn Barn’s owners, chose the Much Wenlock as a fuel efficient and clean alternative to a traditional open fire for the lounge of their converted barn and stable block in Waltham on the Wolds.
Available in a choice of finishes (Matt Black, Enamelled Black or Majolica Brown) the Much Wenlock stove is a medium-sized cast iron stove with simple and easy to use controls. It has a nominal heat output of 6kW and is ideal for larger rooms where heat output is a priority.
The Much Wenlock is rich in features including the innovative adjustable Air Wash system which keeps the glass clean and delivers fuel efficiency, cutting down emissions. The stove is also able to burn overnight and is fuelled by wood, coal or anthracite. A boiler version of the Much Wenlock is also available.
It’s also easy to maintain thanks to its removable firebricks and removable Hi-Chrome riddling grate, as well as its removable ash pan, fire fence and front ash lip.
The stove was installed by Rutland Stoves of Oakham, Leicestershire, following a full site survey and consultation with the owners. All the fitters and sales staff from Rutland Stoves are HETAS trained and registered. Craig Buckle from Rutland Stoves said: “We work very closely with all our customers to ensure they get the very best advice. It’s not just about selling a product – it’s about making sure the stove delivers what’s expected of it. It’s also vital to make sure the installation is both safe and correct.”
Glena Rowlands, at Bryn Barn said: “We love to give our guests a warm and friendly welcome, so it’s important that we’re warm too. We chose the enamelled stove from AGA because of its traditional and simple design, as well as being able to keep a real flame fire without losing all the heat up the somewhat drafty chimney. I’ve always wanted an AGA cooker, so the stove was the next best thing!”
The Much Wenlock is easy to install and has a top and rear flue exit, allowing for flexible siting. It’s available nationwide through the network of AGA showrooms or independent retail outlets, and costs from £995.
