AquaKlear water conditioning unit reduces hard scale build up at Taipei hot spring spa
(17/06/2008)

Taipei in Taiwan benefits from a natural hot spring belt situated north of the city due to the island being located between an oceanic trench and volcanic system. This has proven to be a valuable resource for local residents, who utilise the source of hot water for everyday and leisure / spa usage. However, facilities staff at one of the newest housing developments have experienced severe scale build up due to the high levels of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) in the water. The Tian Chuen Building suffered hard scale build up of 2mm in the hot water system’s stainless steel pipes, causing the pumps to become inefficient after only 6 weeks. Following research of the various options available, it was decided to trial Hydropath’s AquaKlear water conditioning unit for 4 months. The Aqua... [read full article]

AquaKlear water conditioning unit improves water quality at Banham Zoo
(24/01/2008)

AquaKlear, Hydropath’s pool water conditioning unit has been used in a unique application at Banham Zoo, near Norfolk. The zoo is home to over 1,000 animals and the South African fur seals are one of the most popular visitor attraction. Keepers experienced difficulties maintaining water quality and pH levels in the 64,000 gallon pool due to excessive amounts of algae and organic matter from the size of the mammals and the amount of fresh fish eaten daily. Problems were also exaggerated in summer due to the higher temperatures. The entire volume of the pool needed to be filtered every 1.7hrs and sand filters were backwashed 2 to 3 times a week. Staff at the zoo also spent one day a week cleaning and replacing the water. During this process the seals were removed from the pool, leavi... [read full article]

Fitness and leisure complex improves water quality and clarity with AquaKlear
(14/12/2007)

Management at a large fitness and leisure complex based in North Kentucky were keen to improve water quality and clarity, minimise chemical use, reduce overheads and operate in a more ecologically friendly matter in their three pools. As a result, they decided to trial Hydropath’s water conditioning technology over a period of four weeks. Units from Hydropath’s AquaKlear range were tested. The P100 was fitted to the water pipe before the filters and a W63 unit was fitted to the waterslide inlet pipe. Tests were carried out over a period of two weeks prior to the installation of the units to provide baseline figures, and results were recorded after the AquaKlear units were installed. Success was measured by recording water usage during backwashing, chemical usage and utility costs. ... [read full article]

Conditioning water and preventing rust without the need for chemicals
(31/01/2007)

Corrosion is a major issue for steel factories as once the metal pipe work has begun to corrode, the process rapidly accelerates. The Jordan Steel Factory outside Amman, Jordan was concerned about corrosion within the pipework of its cooling system, caused by large quantities of sulphate reducing bacteria, iron oxides and scaling build up. These factors combined, contributed to an overall reduction in the efficiency of the direct and in-direct cooling system at the factory. The management decided to contact the Corrosion Engineering Division of the Royal Scientific Society, Mechanical Design & Technology Center. The solution to this problem was the introduction of the AquaKlear P120 unit. Hydropath technology works by inducing coaxial electromagnetic fields through the fluids pass... [read full article]
